What is the batch size cap, and is it enforced? An operator advertising "small group" can mean anything from 8 to 22 people. Ask for the hard cap and whether they've ever run batches above it.

Who is the on-ground guide — an employee or a contractor? Contracted guides change frequently and may not know the route as well. Ask how many years the guide has operated specifically this trek.

What happens if the trek is called off due to weather? Get the refund and rescheduling policy in writing before you pay. Verbal assurances mean nothing at 4,000 metres with a storm inbound.

Is the accommodation fixed or subject to change? "Subject to availability" in a contract means they can move you to a worse property without owing you a refund difference.

What is included in the transport — just the group vehicle, or also the return if the trip ends early? Medical evacuations and early exits are common on high-altitude treks and the costs can be brutal.

Are the permits already booked, or will they be arranged after you pay? Last-minute permit failures are a real risk on routes with daily caps. Confirm dates and permit numbers before the final payment.
